The Bishop of Norwich

 

Traditional etiquette requires diners to pass the Port decanter to the person seated to their left.  If for some reason, the decanter should become waylaid, the person holding it up may have this brought to their attention by asking 'Do you know the Bishop of Norwich'?  If necessary, this may be followed by 'He's a terribly good chap, but he always forgets to pass the port'.

I've been a fan of 2005 Bordeaux since I first tasted the wines, en primeur.  There's quality to be found in every commune and at all price points.  The wines received glowing reviews in Robert Parker's tasting reports but I sometimes felt his early scores didn't adequately reflect the praise of his notes.  Ten years on from the vintage and Parker has re-visted a number of wines and awarded much higher scores.  This has, not surprisingly, resulted in swift price increases. 

With all that in mind, I thought it was an opportune moment to offer you some highly rated '05s we have in stock, which Parker has yet to re-visit.  These are all very competitively priced and are particularly good value, compared to more recent vintages.
