Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Les Origines', 2015, Grand Veneur, 12x750ml

Domaine Grand Veneur first hit my radar with an impressive 2001 vintage and since then they've consistently produced some of the best value wines in the region. The 2015 vintage is looking like it might be their best yet.

With vineyards that are a stone's throw from Ch. de Beaucastel, they've got fine terroir. The vines used to produce Les Origines are on average 65 years old. The only downside is that there are only a few hundred cases produced.

Tasting Notes

Critics Score: 94-96

Publication: Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate

The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Origines (50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah aged in a mix of concrete tanks and small barrels) has fabulous notes of crème de cassis, blackberry jam, roasted herbs and graphite. Full-bodied, ultra-pure and with incredibly polished tannin, it’s up with some of the best vintage of this cuvée to date. It will need 2-3 years of cellaring and have two decades of longevity.
