Charles Van Canneyt succeeded his grandfather Alain in 2008 but has taken pains not to fundamentally change the domaine’s style. The emphasis remains on terroir and a non-interventionist approach. Low yields and strict selection are key and an average vine age of around 50 years is maintained by replanting individually rather than wholesale. Some plots, such as those in Romanee St Vivant and Les Suchots are close to 100 years old.
100% new oak is employed for Grands Crus, with 2/3 for 1er Crus and 1/3 for villages. The wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
