Vie di Romans

Vie di Romans is based in the heart of Isonzo, where Gianfranco Gallo's 60 hectares of vineyard produce about 250,000 bottles a year. The well-drained soil is stony, glacial and rich in minerals, soaking up whatever rain falls like a sponge. An easterly wind brings cool night temperatures to temper the hot summer days and the large diurnal range slows ripening and allows the grapes to accumulate a great deal of flavour. This, along with the low yields that Gallo achieves and his proclivity for picking grapes only once fully mature, gives single-vineyard wines of great intensity and richness. As a result, Gallo releases the wines a year later than is usual.
