A perfumed, fresh, cool and moderately restrained nose speaks of various red and dark berries along with plenty of iron-inflected earth, game and pretty floral nuances. The generous but well-delineated flavors certainly don't lack for size, weight and power as they coat the palate while buffering the notably firm tannic spine on the muscular, driving and wonderfully persistent finish. While like virtually all vintages of this wine, it is of course built-to-age but what is interesting about the 2014 version is how sophisticated the supporting tannins are.
